According to ABC, Yaiza’s murder took place in Sant Joan Despí, Barcelona.
Apparently, Cristina wanted to return at all costs to Sergio, her ex-partner, after finding out that she had started a new relationship.
But Sergio refused repeatedly and this caused a “growing anger, rage, sadness and frustration in the accused”, who methodically planned the death of her daughter and her own, since according to Cristina, this would cause insurmountable pain to Sergio.
One of the most shocking points they obtained during the investigations is that Cristina had investigated through her cell phone how to commit suicide with drugs, how to take her own life, and also how long it took for a minor to die from asphyxiation.
Cristina first gave the little girl sedatives and then asphyxiated her during the night of May 31, 2021. This is why Yaiza could not defend herself against her, she was totally drugged and unconscious.
The grandmother was the one who found Cristina unconscious and the girl lifeless, after visiting them in her apartment. They also located four farewell letters, one addressed to Sergio which read “now you are left without your daughter,” according to RTVE.
“Here you have what you deserve because you have made me take my life and I know that you will be happy about my death, but you are going to mourn the death of my daughter, your daughter Yaiza. I am taking her with me because that is why I gave birth to her.” “Decide whether you bury her or cremate her,” the letter continued.
However, Cristina did not die and according to police examinations, when she committed the murder she had unchanged mental faculties. Still, she refused to testify to what she did.
Now Cristina must remain in prison, she will have precautionary measures and zero contact with Sergio’s family and she must pay compensation of 250 thousand euros to her father, while to her grandparents 75 thousand, each.
